ADMINISTRATIVE DATABASE PROGRAMMER

 ACCOUNTABILITY: Associate Director of IT Services and Systems Development

 General Responsibilities:

This position will provide programming and database support for the college's administrative database system. The primary responsibility is to provide database expertise and write custom programs and reports that enable end users greater flexibility with the reporting and use of the system.  Enhanced technical support and programming assistance.

Specific Responsibilities:

Create or modify existing custom programs and database reports as requested by constituents and coordinated by Associate Director of IT Services and Systems Development

Provide secondary support and maintenance of Jenzabar database system including file maintenance, technical documentation, and utilization of query language and provide end user support. This includes all users and departments currently using Jenzabar’s QX software.  Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Admissions, College Advancement, Financial Aid, Finance, Personnel, Purchasing, Registrar and Residential Housing

Assist with planning and implementation of new administrative systems.

Provide development and training for all administrative database services.

Ensure that security measures are being followed for all systems and accounts and that the systems are backed up on a regular basis.

Other job related duties as required.

Qualifications:

AAS in Computer Science or related field, BS preferred

Strong knowledge of Visual Basic, VBA, Access query design, Screen/User Form design, Crystal Reports, MS Office Development, ODBC

Experience/Familiar with database design methodologies, .NET technologies, ASP, XML, Infomaker, Powerbuilder

Prior data processing support experience using Microsoft SQL (or similar query language)

Expertise in HTML and ability to adapt to evolving WWW technologies

Applications programming experience in a database environment

Experience with Windows NT, 2000, XP, windows programming

Have understanding of server hardware and networking technologies

Experience providing computer systems support in higher education is preferred

Strong communication skills
