General
Responsibilities:
The Program
Director has oversight for
curriculum design and review as well as curriculum consistency,
coordination and integrity related to the traditional business program
for undergraduate management of the science program offered by Keuka
College in China. The director recruits and qualifies candidates
to teach in the program, develops and periodically offers professional
development seminars in China for the instructors, and through classroom
observation, evaluates teaching effectiveness.
The Program
Director serves as the Keuka College (NY) liaison with the Keuka China
Program and staff members in the KCP offices in Shanghai. The Director
travels to China at least twice a year to evaluate overall program
effectiveness; may teach in China periodically to meet program needs.
The individual is based in Keuka Park, NY.
Specific
Responsibilities:
 | Oversees the
recruitment and hiring process for all faculty appointments. |
 | Works with both
supervisors to determine the annual budget for recruitment and
hiring. |
 | Communicates
with the pre-screened candidates to determine availability and fit
with the Keuka China program. |
 | Facilitates the
contract terms between the faculty candidate and the Vice President
for Programs Abroad. |
 | Provides
orientation for new Keuka China faculty (usually twice a year). |
 | Makes regular
visits to the partner universities to observe and evaluate teaching
performance. |
 | Works with the
Coordinator of Keuka China Student Services Operations to resolve
issues between faculty and Keuka China students relating to
course/classroom management. |
 | 3-5 years
teaching experience in setting where English is a second language. |
 | Familiarity
with classroom teaching evaluation techniques. |
 | Experienced in
the administration of academic programs, overseas preferred. |
 | Ability to
work collaboratively across cultures and time zones. |
 | Ability to
work under pressure with a high tolerance for ambiguity and the
ability to work with diverse groups of people in multiple cultural
settings. |
 | Ability to
work independently. |
 | Willingness to
work weekends, especially when in China. |
 | Excellent oral
and written communication skills. |
 | Use of e-mail
as an effective communication tool. |
 | Familiarity
with budgeting process and spreadsheet applications. |
 | Valid Passport
with no travel restrictions. |
 | Physical and
mental health able to cope with potential frequent international
travel. |
