Keuka-China Programs – New York

 TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT: 12-month appointment administrative position

 ACCOUNTABILITY:  The Provost and the Vice President for Academic Affairs

 General Responsibilities:

 The Program Director has oversight for curriculum design and review as well as curriculum consistency, coordination and integrity related to the traditional business program for undergraduate management of the science program offered by Keuka College in China.  The director recruits and qualifies candidates to teach in the program, develops and periodically offers professional development seminars in China for the instructors, and through classroom observation, evaluates teaching effectiveness.

 The Program Director serves as the Keuka College (NY) liaison with the Keuka China Program and staff members in the KCP offices in Shanghai.  The Director travels to China at least twice a year to evaluate overall program effectiveness; may teach in China periodically to meet program needs.   The individual is based in Keuka Park, NY.

 Specific Responsibilities:

bulletLiaison to the Division of Business and Management through regular meetings and communication.
bulletEnsures compliance with institutional policies and procedures, and accreditation requirements.
bulletLiaison with standing and academic committees.
bullet Coordinates program assessment with the Division of Business and Management.
bulletProvides leadership to maintain program integrity and growth.
bulletMeets other program needs as directed by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.
bulletOversees the recruitment and hiring process for all faculty appointments.
bulletWorks with both supervisors to determine the annual budget for recruitment and hiring.
bulletCommunicates with the pre-screened candidates to determine availability and fit with the Keuka China program.
bulletFacilitates the contract terms between the faculty candidate and the Vice President for Programs Abroad.
bulletProvides orientation for new Keuka China faculty (usually twice a year).
bulletMakes regular visits to the partner universities to observe and evaluate teaching performance.
bulletWorks with the Coordinator of Keuka China Student Services Operations to resolve issues between faculty and Keuka China students relating to course/classroom management.

 

bulletProvides faculty development seminars and workshops for all Keuka China faculty.
bulletWorks with the NY Alumni Office to develop programs and participation among the graduates of the Keuka China program.
bulletMeets other program needs as directed by the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs.

 Qualifications:

 

bulletMaster’s degree (required) business or management field preferred; will consider other relevant experience.
bullet3-5 years teaching experience in setting where English is a second language.
bulletFamiliarity with classroom teaching evaluation techniques.
bulletExperienced in the administration of academic programs, overseas preferred.
bulletAbility to work collaboratively across cultures and time zones.
bulletAbility to work under pressure with a high tolerance for ambiguity and the ability to work with diverse groups of people in multiple cultural settings.
bulletAbility to work independently.
bulletWillingness to work weekends, especially when in China.
bulletExcellent oral and written communication skills.
bulletUse of e-mail as an effective communication tool.
bulletFamiliarity with budgeting process and spreadsheet applications.
bulletValid Passport with no travel restrictions.
bulletPhysical and mental health able to cope with potential frequent international travel.
