Display of 10 Artists’ Drawings in Lightner Gallery

Drawing: Diverse Approaches, a display of 10 artists’ work, is on display in the Lightner Gallery through Dec. 2.

The exhibition is free and open to the public. Located in the Lightner Library, the gallery is open Monday-Thursday, 7:30 a.m.-11 p.m.; Friday, 7:30 a.m.-6 p.m.; Saturday, 8:30 a.m.-6 p.m.; and Sunday, noon-11 p.m.

The participating artists are: Darryl Abraham of Naples, Sarah Barry of Canandaigua, Belinda Bryce of Rochester, Janie Darovskikh of Skaneatles, Kathleen Dougherty of Penn Yan, June Edwards of Pittsburg, Pa., Gary Jurysta of Pittsburg, Pa., Barron Naegel of Canandaigua, Don Sottile of Penn Yan, and Wayne Williams of Newark.


Grin Like a Fool

Real Time in Spotlight Dec. 1

The Spotlight Series will continue Friday, Dec. 1 with a performance of Real Time, a comedy that won three awards at the Toronto Fringe Festival. 

The play, produced by the Arion Players, begins at 8 p.m. in the Barn and is free and open to the public.

Real Time won the Outstanding Production, Performances and Direction awards at the Toronto Fringe Festival

and was nominated for five Sterling Awards at the Edmonton Fringe Festival (Outstanding Production, New Work, Actress, Actor, and Director).

Labeled a “fairy tale romance,” the play, which features “two misfits from the outskirts of society,” appeals to the “misunderstood outsider in all of us.”

Said one reviewer: “Real Time is funny, beautiful and heartfelt—you’ll leave grinning like a fool.”


Acoustic POP

Two Skinny Dorks Here Nov. 18

The acoustic pop duo Two Skinny Dorks will perform at Keuka College Saturday, Nov. 18.

The performance, free and open to the public, begins at 10 p.m. in the Space Hall lounge.

The group has opened for Dave Matthews Band, Blessid Union of Souls, The Roots, O.A.R, George Clinton and the PFunk Allstars, Average White Band, and Big Bad Voodoo Daddy.

Formed in 1999, the duo has been heard on college and national radio stations, and has performed on regional and national television. Two Skinny Dorks was ranked the No. 1 unsigned band by the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2002.
