FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - Aug 7, 2008

Blessid Union of Souls to Perform Unplugged Sept. 13

KEUKA PARK, N.Y.—Pop sensation Blessid Union of Souls will play an unplugged acoustic concert on the Keuka College campus Saturday, Sept. 13, in the Weed Physical Arts Center.

Doors open at 6:30 p.m., with opening act, Jared Campbell, beginning at 7:30 p.m. Blessid Union of Souls will follow at 8:15 p.m.

The concert is open to the public; tickets are $10 (cash, check or credit card) and are available online at www.keukatickets.com, or through the Office of Student Activities (315-279-5264).

Blessid Union of Souls has made a name for itself over the last 12 years with simple, catchy pop melodies and clever lyrics. Their hit singles include the 1995 No. 1 breakthrough hit “I Believe” and the 1999 smash hit “Hey Leondardo” (“She Likes Me for Me”).

The band’s 2007 release of the acoustic album Blessid Union Almost Acoustic was released on I-Tunes with an acoustic collection of some of the band’s most popular hits, along with previously unreleased songs, “Peace and Love” and a cover of Bread’s “Everything I Own.” The album also featured cuts of Eliot Sloan, the band’s lead singer and principal songwriter, sharing the stories behind the songs. The album served as a catalyst for Blessid Union Unplugged, the intimate performance.

The band’s sixth album, Close to the Edge, is due out Sept. 16 on Torque Records/SONY/Victory/Red. For more information on the band, visit www.myspace.com/blessidunionofsouls.

Cambell, a 24-year-old singer-songwriter from Binghamton, is a fixture on the independent music scene. Not only has he built a loyal fan base, but he has sold more than 16,000 CDs—a major accomplishment for an independent artist.

Following a successful showcase performance at the 2006 National Association for Campus Activities (NACA) National Convention, Campbell quickly became one of the hottest college acts in the country.

Campbell was chosen by MTV Books to record a number for the soundtrack of their short story collection “Lit Riffs.” He has shared the concert stage with national acts such as Jason Mraz, Gavin DeGraw, Journey, Matt Nathanson, and Sister Hazel, among others.

The celebration concert for the release of his first full length CD, Rest Out, sold out the Forum Theater in Washington, D.C., the place where Campbell attended many concerts and dreamed that he would someday be the one on the stage. Although his recordings are mostly full band productions, Campbell typically performs as a solo acoustic artist. For more information on Campbell, go to www.myspace.com/jaredcampbell.
