Shaughnessy Named to ESPN
All-District Team
Keuka College volleyball player Jen Shaughnessy
(LeRoy, N.Y./LeRoy) was rewarded for her sensational senior season by
being named to the ESPN CoSIDA Academic All-District second team.
Shaughnessy carries a GPA of 3.84 while
majoring in business management. The senior also works three jobs and
excels at both Volleyball and softball here at Keuka. Last season on the
diamond, Shaughnessy had a 10-1 record (1.60 ERA) while batting
.315 and
leading the Storm to a North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC)
championship and the Storm’s first-ever NCAA Tournament appearance.
On the volleyball court
this season, Shaughnessy led the Storm to a 14-19 overall record
while leading the team in kills (346), attack percentage (.320), and
blocks (161). The middle hitter also finished second on the team with 34
service aces. Her 161 blocks (57 solo and 104 assisted) shattered the
previous single-season school record, which stood at 99.
Named to the All-NEAC
first team for the second straight season, Shaughnessy finishes her
career with 840 kills (4th all-time at Keuka). Her 1,848 total
attacks places her 8th all-time in the Keuka annals while her
302 blocks place her second, just eight shy of the record. Shaughnessy
also finished with 107 service aces (9th all-time).
Keuka played in four
tournaments throughout the course of the season and Shaughnessy was
named to the All-Tournament team in three of them.

Storm Land Four on All-NEAC Teams
Shaughnessy Named to First Team
The Keuka College volleyball team didn’t win the
North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) regular season championship like
they did 2006, but they had more players named to the All-NEAC teams then
last season.
The Storm finished 14-19
overall and had its season end when they lost (3-0) to top-seeded
Philadelphia Biblical University in the NEAC Tournament semifinals this
past Saturday.
Despite the losing
season Keuka’s middle hitter, senior Jen Shaughnessy (LeRoy, N.Y./LeRoy),
had one of the best season’s in school history. Shaughnessy led
the Storm with 346 kills, third most ever in a season at Keuka. She also
posted a .320 attack percentage, served up 34 aces, and shattered the
school’s single-season block record with 161 (1.44 per game).
Shaughnessy was a unanimous choice for the All-NEAC first team.
Fellow seniors Aimee
Margocs (North Royalton, OH/North Royaton) and Ashley Aman
(Walworth, N.Y./Wayne) were both named to the All-NEAC second team.
Margocs, the team’s libero, led the squad with 394 digs (4.33 per
game). Aman, an outside hitter, finished second on the team in
kills (222) and digs (301).
Rookie outside hitter
Raelle Naegley (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) was voted to the All-NEAC
honorable mention squad after finishing third on the team with 152 kills
and 248 digs.

NCAA Tournament Field Announced
PBU to Play Juniata
The 2007
women's volleyball NCAA Tournament field was announced on Sunday, Nov. 4.
Philadelphia Biblical University, who the Storm lost to in the North
Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) tournament semifinals, is one of 61
teams that makeup this year's tournament. The Crimson Eagles (30-8)
will square off against the Eagles of Juniata College (33-4) this
Thursday, Nov. 8.
Nazareth
College, who defeated the Storm this season (3-0) was also selected and
will face Montclair State (22-14) in the opening round. Other local
teams include Rochester Institute of Technology (31-10) and Cortland State
(31-10).

Storm Fall in Semi's
Lose to PBU 3-0
The Keuka
College women's volleyball team lost its North Eastern Athletic Conference
(NEAC)
semifinal game to the top seeded Crimson Eagles of Philadelphia Biblical
University 3-0 on Friday. PBU will now face No. 2 seeded Baptist
Bible College in the NEAC championship on Saturday at 1 pm. Keuka
falls to 14-19 overall while PBU improves to 29-8.
The Storm were
defeated 30-15, 30-17, & 30-16 as they managed just
a .028 attack percentage. The Crimson Eagles sported a .257 attack
percentage while crushing 45 kills to just 16 for the Storm.
Senior
Ashley Aman (Walworth, N.Y./Wayne) led the way for Keuka with five
kills and nine digs. Rookie Raelle Naegely (Colorado Springs,
CO/Pine Creek) had a team-high 11 digs while setters Katy Geers
(Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) and Diana Frank (West Valley,
N.Y./West Valley) each passed off six assists.

NEAC Tournament Schedule Set
No. 4 Seeded Storm to Face PBU
The 2007 North
Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) women's volleyball tournament schedule
is set and will be hosted by top seeded Philadelphia Biblical University
this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2-3.
Keuka finished
the regular season with a 3-3 conference mark to earn the No. 4 seed.
They will have to face the top-seeded Crimson Eagles on Friday at 6 pm.
Keuka lost to PBU 3-1 in the regular season.

Storm Split at BBC Tri-Match
Finish 4th in NEAC Regular Season
The volleyball
team split its two games at the Baptist Bible College tri-match this past
Saturday. Keuka started by shutting out Penn State-Berks 3-0 before
falling to the host school 3-0. Keuka ends the regular season with a
14-18 overall record and a 3-3 North
Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) record. Baptist Bible sits at
15-16 overall and 5-1 in conference play while Penn State-Berks falls to
1-22 overall and 0-6 in the NEAC.
Against Penn
State-Berks, Keuka didn't play its three top players, and still defeated
them easily in straight games (30-25, 30-18, and 30-25). Keuka
finished with a team attack percentage of .082 but held the Nittany Lions
to just a .008 percentage. Rookie Heather Fish (Newfield,
N.Y./Newfield) led the way with six kills and four blocks while
teammate Melissa Opeka (Endicott, N.Y./Union Endicott) finished
with five kills and three blocks. Junior Samantha Heath (Hampton,
NH/Winnacunnet) led the team
with
12 digs while rookie Kate Kraus (Williamsville, N.Y./Williamsville
South) added 11. Freshman Katy Geers (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray
Bodley) dished out 12 assists.
Against
Baptist Bible, Keuka stepped it up posted a team attack percentage of .188
but the Defenders posted a slightly better .200 percentage. The
Defenders won all three games (31-29, 30-26, and 30-22). Senior
Jen Shaughnessy (LeRoy, N.Y./LeRoy) had a huge game with 13 kills and
a .462 attack percentage. Fellow senior Ashley Aman (Walworth,
N.Y./Wayne) added 9 kills while collecting a team-high 17 digs.
Freshman Raelle Naegely (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) chipped
in with 6 kills and 15 digs while Geers passed out 19 more assists.
The Storm will
next compete in the NEAC Tournament this Friday and Saturday, Nov. 2-3 at
Philadelphia Biblical University.

Storm Sweep Tri-Match
Crush 79 Kills in Six Games
The women's
volleyball team won both of its games at the Penn State-Harrisburg
tri-match on Saturday. Keuka knocked off both North Eastern Athletic
Conference (NEAC) member
Penn
State-Harrisburg as well Penn State-Mount Alto as they improved to 13-17
overall and 2-2 in conference play. Harrisburg falls to10-8 overall
and 1-3 in the NEAC while Mount Alto falls to 7-6 overall.
Against
Harrisburg, Keuka won in straight games (30-21, 30-22, and 35-33).
Keuka crushed 49 kills and finished with a team-hitting percentage of
.218. Senior Jen Shaughnessy (LeRoy, N.Y./LeRoy) led with 12
kills while boasting a .435 attack percentage. The middle hitter
also finished with a team-high five service aces and five blocks, while
adding five digs. Rookie Raelle Naegely (Colorado Springs,
CO/Pine Creek) added 11 kills (.240 attack percentage) and six digs
while classmate Sarah Fredricks (Milton, Ontario Canada/E.C. Drury)
ended with eight kills.
Seniors Ashley Aman (Walwroth, N.Y./Wayne) and Aimee Margocs
(North Royalton, OH/North Royalton) each led the team with 18 digs as
freshman Katy Geers (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley) dished out 21
assists.
Against Penn
State-Mount Alto, Keuka again won in three games (30-21, 30-19, and 30-8).
Aman ended with eight kills (.350 attack percentage) while
Naegely and Shaughnessy each finished with seven kills.
Shaughnessy added six more blocks (3 solo) and two more aces.
Setter Geers handed out 18 more assists and libero Margocs
led with nine digs.
The Storm will
next play in the Baptist Bible tri-match this Saturday, Oct. 27.
Keuka will square off against BBC at noon and then will play Penn State-Berks
at 2 pm.

Seniors Shine on Senior Night
Storm Blank Saxons 3-0
The women's
volleyball team, led by its four seniors, shutout the visiting Saxons of Alfred
University
3-0 at the Weed Physical Arts Center on Wednesday night. Keuka snaps
an 11-game skid with the win while improving to 11-17 on the year.
Alfred drops its 17th straight game and stand at 2-20 overall.
With the
Storm's four seniors, Ashley Aman (Walworth, N.Y./Wayne), Ashley
Joswick (New Hartford, N.Y./New York Mills), Aimee Margocs (North
Royalton, OH/North Royalton), and Jen Shaughnessy (LeRoy, N.Y./LeRoy)
recognized before the start of the game, Keuka rolled to the three
game
win (30-26, 30-14, & 30-25).
Leading the
way was Shaughnessy who killed 12 balls while blocking 4 others.
Aman did her part by collecting 9 kills, 13 digs, and 2 aces while
Margocs dug a team-high 24 balls. Joswick chipped in
with 2 kills, 2 digs, and a block.
Rookie Katy
Geers (Fulton, N.Y./G. Ray Bodley)
orchestrated the offense by dishing off 17 assists while classmate
Raelle Naegely (Colorado Springs, CO/Pine Creek) added 20 digs.
Sophomore Erica Beach (Mt. Morris, N.Y./York) served up a team-high
3 aces.
The Storm will
next play in the Penn State-Harrisburg tri-match this Saturday, Oct. 20.
Keuka will square off against Penn State-Harrisburg at 2 pm and then face
Penn State-Mount Alto at 4 pm.

McGowan and Shaughnessy
Keuka Athletes of the Week
Women’s tennis star Megan McGowan (Batavia,
N.Y./Batavia) and volleyball sensation Jen Shaughnessy (LeRoy,
N.Y./LeRoy) were both named Keuka College Athletes of the Week for the
week ending Oct. 13.
McGowan, a rookie
on the Storm’s 5-4 tennis squad, led the Storm to a 2-0 week in conference
play while going undefeated in No. 1 singles and No. 1 doubles. In
Keuka’s 9-0 win over Philadelphia Biblical University, McGowan
bested her singles opponent (6-1, 6-1) before teaming up with sophomore
Alison Liberty (South Berwick, ME/Marshwood) and blanking their
doubles opponents 8-0. She followed that up by winning her singles (6-0,
6-1) and doubles matches (8-3) in Keuka’s 6-3 win over Penn
State-Harrisburg. McGowan is currently 5-1 in singles play in the
North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) and 6-0 in doubles.
Shaughnessy,
a senior middle hitter on the Storm’s 10-16 volleyball team, had a huge
week despite Keuka going 0-4. Shaughnessy finished the week with
55 kills (3.9 a game), 19 blocks, and an amazing .440 attack percentage.
Against No. 2 regionally ranked Nazareth College, She finished with 10
kills and a .500 attack percentage. She followed that up by posting games
of 13, 9, and a career-high 23 kills in the Storm’s three games in the
Smith College Tournament. Shaughnessy was named to the
All-Tournament team for her stellar performance.
