Four Players
Selected to All-Conference Teams
The Keuka College baseball team had four of its players and its head coach
recognized for there seasons by being named to the All-Conference teams.
The Storm finished 8-5 in the conference and was knocked out in the
semifinals of the NEAC Tournament.
Three players were selected to the All-NEAC second team led by senior
first basemen Mike Perrone (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream).
Perrone had a huge final season, batting a team-leading .414 while
finishing just one hit shy of the school single season record with 48.
He also led the Storm in doubles (9), slugging percentage (.509), on-base
percentage (.477), and putouts (258).
Also chosen to the All-NEAC second team was junior second basemen Alex
Paquette (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton). Paquette batted .353
while finishing third on the team with 36 hits and second on the team with
24 runs. Paquette also led the Storm with two triples and one home
run.
Sophomore pitcher Kyle Sherin (Walworth, N.Y./Gananda) was selected
as a second team performer after leading the Storm with three wins.
Sherin finished 3-5 while tossing a team-high four complete games
out of his eight starts. He led the staff with 41.2 innings of work
and was second with 23 strikeouts.
Senior outfielder Colin Mullins (Conklin, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley)
was selected to the All-NEAC honorable mention team after batting .329.
Mullins suffered two bad injuries (broken thumb and pulled
hamstring) but battled through and finished with 23 hits in 23 games.
Head coach Seth Fikes was selected by his peers as the NEAC Coach of the
Year.

Storm Season Ends with One-Run Loss
Keuka Falls to Berks 11-10
Keuka's 2008 season came to end on Friday as they lost its second game of
the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament to Penn
State-Berks by a score of 11-10. The
Storm end the season with a 9-28 record while Berks improves to 15-23 and
will now take on Cazenovia College in tomorrow 9 am game.
Keuka started off on fire, plating four runs in the top of the first.
Berks would strike back with three in the bottom of the second and six in
the third. The Nittany Lions would go up by seven (11-4) after two
more runs in the fourth and fifth innings. Keuka kept fighting as
they scored the game's final six runs. Three in the sixth, one in
the eighth, and two in the ninth. Keuka couldn't complete the
comeback as the tying run was left stranded in scoring position.
Sophomore Kyle Sherin (Walworth, N.Y./Gananda) suffered the loss
while freshman Bobby
Potter
(Montour Falls, N.Y./Odessa-Montour) pitched five and 1/3 stellar
innings of relief, allowing just two runs.
Senior Matt Schaffer (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) led
the sticks going 3-for-5 with three runs scored while also throwing out
two would be base stealers. Freshman Mike Marsh (Elmira,
N.Y./Southside) batted 2-for-3 with a double, two RBIs, and three runs
scored.
Junior Ed Schoeneck (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) knocked in four
runs while also scoring once as junior Alex Paquette (Clinton,
N.Y./Clinton) and senior Collin Mullins (Conklin, N.Y./Susquehanna
Valley) each finished with two hits a piece. Junior Craig
Pittinger (Moravia, N.Y./Moravia) chipped in with a pair of RBIs.

Storm Blanked in Tourney Opener
Fall to Cazenovia 7-0
The Keuka College baseball team lost its first round game in the North
Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament on Friday, falling to the
top seeded Wildcats of Cazenovia
College
7-0. The Storm now face elimination in its next game in the
double-elimination tournament.
The Storm were held scoreless throughout the nine-inning game as they
managed just five hits. Cazenovia plated two runs in the third, one
in the fourth, and four in the seventh as they scattered 12 hits.
Keuka sophomore starter Simon Mills (Boonville, N.Y./Adirondack)
pitched six and 2/3 strong innings allowing six earned and striking out
two. Senior Brady Begeal (Northville, N.Y./Wells) pitched the
final inning and a 1/3 without giving up a run.
Keuka will square off against No. 3 seed Penn State-Berks who lost its
open round game to Keystone College by a score of 10-2 at 2:30 pm.

Storm Get Set for NEAC Tourney
Play Cazenovia in First Round
The Keuka College baseball team has earned the No. 4 seed for the 2008
North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) Tournament and a first-round
match-up with the No. 1 seeded
Wildcats of Cazenovia College this Friday, May 2 at 9:30 am.
The two-day tournament will be held in Rome, NY at the Larry DeLutis
baseball field.
Keuka will square off against Cazenovia in the first round while No. 2
Keystone College will take on No. 3 Penn State-Berks. The two losers
will then play each other for the right to stay for the second day.
The fourth game played on Friday will pit the the winners of the first two
games against each other.
The two teams that go 1-1 on Friday would then play first thing Saturday
to see who will face the team that goes 2-0 on Friday. That team
would need to be defeated twice in order not to win the championship.

Keuka Drops Eighth Straight
Lose to RIT 13-1 and 14-3
The Keuka baseball couldn't snap its current losing streak as they dropped
a pair of games to
the
Tigers of Rochester Institute of Technology 13-1 and 14-3 on Tuesday.
Keuka falls to 9-26 overall while RIT improves to 18-12.
Keuka was held scoreless through the first five innings in game one before
plating one in the sixth. RIT hitters collected 14 hits while
scoring 13 times. Rookie Bobby Potter (Montour Falls, N.Y./Odesa-Montour)
pitched well, striking out six while allowing just three earned through
five innings of work.
Senior Collin Mullins (Conklin, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) batted
2-for-2 with a double while junior Ed Schoeneck (Syracuse, N.Y./West
Genesee) knocked in the Storm's lone run.
In game two, the Storm trailed 7-3 entering the final frame but gave up
seven runs to make it
a 14-3 game. Keuka's Craig Pittinger (Moravia, N.Y./Moravia)
batted 2-for-3 with an RBI as freshman David Janiszeski (Clarence,
N.Y./Clarence) went 2-for-4 with an RBI and a double.
Junior Josiah DelGrosso (Montour Falls, N.Y./Corning Christian)
took the loss going six innings and allowing just four earned.
The Storm will next await its seeding in the NEAC Tournament that will be
held in Rome, NY this Friday and Saturday, May 2-3.

Storm Swept by Hawks
Schaffer Belts Four Hits
The Keuka baseball team dropped a pair of home non-conference games to the
Hawks of
Hilbert College on Sunday. Keuka fell 6-3 in game one and the lost
12-2 in the second game. Keuka now has a 9-24 overall record while
Hilbert improves to 6-24.
Keuka had an early lead in game one but two crucial errors allowed three
unearned runs to score as the Storm fell 6-3. Junior Pete Padula
(Utica, N.Y./Utica Notre Dame) suffered the loss despite allowing just
one earned through four innings. Senior Matt
Schaffer
(North Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) batted 2-for-3 with an RBI
while junior Alex Paquette (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) went 2-for-4
with an RBI and a run scored.
In game two, the Storm never got on track as they scored just two runs and
committed three errors. Schaffer again batted 2-for-3 as did
rookie Matt Dunn (Walden, N.Y./Chapel Field) who added an RBI and a
run scored.
Keuka will next play host to RIT in its final regular season games of the
season this Tuesday, April 29 at 2 pm.

Storm Fall to Giants
Secure Spot in Post-Season
The Keuka baseball team lost its final North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC)
regular season game as they fell to the Giants of Keystone College 23-3.
Game two of the double
header
was postponed due to rain. Despite the loss, Keuka secured a spot as
one of the four teams in the conference tournament thanks to a pair of
losses by Penn State-Harrisburg. Keuka now sits at 9-22 overall and
ends with an 8-5 conference mark. Keystone improves to 26-9 and
finishes conference play with an 11-2 record.
Keuka struck first scoring a run in the bottom of the first but Keystone
answered with 22 straight runs over the next five frames. Keystone
collected 16 hits on the day while the Storm committed six errors.
Senior Collin Mullins (Conklin, N.Y./Susquehanna Valley) finished
2-for-2 with a double and an RBI while Mike Perrone (Valley Stream,
N.Y./Valley Stream) and Ed Schoeneck (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee)
each finished with an RBI.
The Storm will next take on Hilbert College this Sunday, April 27 at home
beginning at 1 pm.

Winning Streak Snapped by Cardinals
Drop Pair of Non-Conference Games
The Keuka College baseball teams 5-game winning streak was halted by the
visiting Cardinals of St. John Fisher College on Wednesday as the Storm
lost a double header 11-5 and 15-4.
Keuka now sports a 9-21 record while Fisher improves to 17-8-1.
Trailing 4-1 in the bottom of the third, Keuka plated two runs to get
within one. Both teams plated two runs a piece in the fourth to
remain a one run game. Fisher broke the game open in the sixth with
four runs. Juniors Alex Paquette (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton) and
Ed Schoeneck (Syracuse, N.Y./West Genesee) each had two hits in
four at bats as Paquette scored twice and Schoeneck knocked
in a run. Senior Mike Perrone (Valley Stream, N.Y./Valley Stream)
drove in two and
scored
twice for Keuka.
In a game shortened due to rain and darkness, the Cardinals still managed
17 hits while Keuka pounded out nine. Freshman Matt Dunn (Walden,
N.Y./Chapel Field) drove in two of the Storm's four runs while
Perrone and Paquette each had two hits. Both of
Perrone's hits were doubles.
Keuka will next play its final NEAC regular season games as they host
Keystone College this Saturday, April 26 at 1 pm.

Storm Win Fifth Straight
Smack 23 Hits in Sweep of PSH
The Keuka baseball team remained hot winning its fourth and fifth straight
in the last three days
with
a sweep of Penn State-Harrisburg on Sunday. Keuka won the first game
5-2 and took game two 13-8. The Storm now stand at 8-4 in conference
play and 9-19 overall. The Lions fall to 6-4 in the NEAC and 11-13
overall.
The Storm scored two runs in the bottom of the fifth to break a 2-2 tie.
Sophomore Kyle Sherin (Walworth, N.Y./Gananda) picked up his third
win of the season with a complete game, one earned run, four strikeout
performance. Senior Collin Mullins (Conklin, N.Y./Susuqehanna
Valley) drove in three of the Storm's five runs with a pair of hits in
three at bats. Junior Alex Paquette (Clinton, N.Y./Clinton)
also had two hits while scoring twice.
Keuka's offense had a huge game in the nightcap, scoring 13 runs while
clubbing 16 hits.
Keuka scored early and often, plating five in the bottom of the first, two
in the second, one in both the third and the fourth innings, and then four
in the fifth. Sophomore Simon Mills (Boonville, N.Y./Adirondack)
picked up his third win of the year on the hill while senior backstop
Matt Schaffer (North Tonawanda, N.Y./Niagara Wheatfield) led the bats
going 4-for-5, with three runs scored, and two RBIs. Paquette
smoked two triples while finishing with three hits and three runs scored.
Freshman Matt Dunn (Walden, N.Y./Chapel Field) drove in four runs
with a pair of hits while junior Stefan Gallucci (Youngstown,
N.Y./Lewiston-Porter) knocked in three with two hits.
The Storm will next take on the Cardinals of St. John Fisher College this
Wednesday, April 23 at 2 pm.
