Purpose as stated in the Constitution of
the Campus Activities Board:
The purpose of the Campus Activities
Board shall be to plan and coordinate weekly social events on campus and
to provide entertainment for the entire student body. All CAB activities
shall be open to the entire campus. CAB shall represent a positive aspect
of the campus and shall work in an effort to increase student morale and
involvement.
General Information:
The director of Student Activities
advises a group of students who help plan the events on campus during the
academic year. Such events include but are not limited to; bands,
comedians, movies, game shows, and in house events. The funding for such
events comes from the Student Activities fee every student pays each
semester. Therefore most events sponsored by CAB are free to students.
All students are welcome to be a part of
the Campus Activities Board also known as CAB. CAB meets once a week to
evaluate events from the prior week as well as finalize events for the
upcoming week. Members of the board volunteer their time to set up and
tear down equipment for all events. Members learn various advertising
techniques, planning for larger events, and socializing in a professional
manner with performers before, during and after their show.
Active members are divided into
committees based on interest and changed based on need. The committees
currently are: Comedy, Music, Novelty/Variety, Snowball, Speakers,
Fundraising, and concerts . Members of each committee research various talents that
would be of interest to Keuka and report back to the director as well as
the board to discuss their findings. Future programming stems from
committee work.
Keuka has been represented at NACA and
APCA conferences with the purpose of gaining knowledge and networking with
other local schools. Stemming from these conferences is a retreat where
students present the information they gained and how it can be applied to
Keuka.
Keuka's CAB also takes pride in their
community service involvement. We have donated to the annual holiday Angel
Tree project, Organize the campus blood drive and participate in the
annual Celebrate Service, Celebrate Yates.
