A presentation on
The History of the Bath-Hammondsport Railroad

If you're familiar with Hammondsport, you probably know of the iconic railroad depot near Keuka Lake.  You’re less likely to know the history of the railroad that called this depot "home" for nearly 120 years – the Bath and Hammondsport.  
On June 23^rd, I will share that history with you.


I grew up in Hammondsport near the B&H tracks.  A typical boyhood fascination with trains grew stronger in the late 1950s when I frequently rode in the locomotive with a crew that taught me about railroading and especially about the "good old days" of steam locomotives.  In later years, my father became President of the B&H giving me a window into the business challenges facing one of the shortest of short-line railroads. After high school, I moved on to Princeton University, the University of Rochester and a 32 year career with Kodak that took me to many parts of the world.  Travelling and living elsewhere helped me appreciate Keuka Lake and the rich history of the area even more.

Join me for a glimpse into a slice of that history as we look back on the Bath and Hammondsport Railroad.
