We Start Late—for Good Reason
Last January, students conducted internships in 27 states and seven foreign countries, including France, Germany, England, Canada,
India, Kenya, and Jamaica.
Keuka’s spring semester doesn’t start until early February but that doesn’t mean students get a longer break.
The fact is, Keuka students get a shorter break than other college students and it’s due to Field Period, a required internship program and one of the key reasons why Keuka is the national leader in experiential, hands-on learning.

Every student undertakes a Field Period every year, the majority in January and some over the summer. Students go out into the world for 140 hours of hands-on experience, putting into practice what they learned in the classroom.
And you never know where Field Period might take you. In January 2008, students conducted Field Periods in 27 states and seven foreign countries, including France, Germany, England, Canada, India, Kenya, and Jamaica.

Field Periods may reinforce your choice of major or it may help you choose another. Either way, by the time you graduate, you’ll have significant “real world” experience that will impress employers or graduate schools.
