Dual Degree
Keuka College is a top-notch private, liberal-arts college with a history of nursing education dating back to World War II. Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing and Health Sciences, located on the campus of Geneva General Hospital, is renowned for its hands-on, clinical-based education. As a nursing student, you’ll take courses on both campuses, taught by professors from both institutions.
Even though you’ll attend classes at two different institutions, you’ll have the option of living on Keuka College’s campus with more than 1,000 other students. You can participate in athletics, join extracurricular activities, and much more.
Be an RN Your Junior Year
At the end of your third year, you’ll graduate with an A.A.S. from Finger Lakes Health College of Nursing and Health Sciences and will be eligible to sit for the NCLEX-RN—the exam that qualifies you for licensure as a registered nurse. At the end of your senior year, you’ll earn a bachelor’s degree from Keuka College.
No other nursing program provides this level of flexibility, academic rigor, and hands-on experience.
Through the use of research and evidence based practice, health promotion, group collaboration, and leadership principles, you’ll gain the personal and professional confidence needed to become a baccalaureate-prepared nurse.
You’ll take courses in professional development, leadership, community/population health, Spanish and American Sign Language, health assessment, Field Period®, and more—all designed to enhance your role as a nurse and to help you pinpoint your career interests and expertise.

Learn More About Nursing
As a student in the dual degree program, you’ll receive instruction deeply rooted in the evaluation of both quantitative and qualitative research methodologies.
The immediate application of research findings to your nursing practice will foster a learning platform in the classroom and within your future day-to-day practice.
An introductory course in Nursing Research will provide the principles of scientific inquiry, as well as the opportunity to define a research problem and to initiate a literature search. Continuous research, analysis, and inquiry will be the foundation for your success throughout the duration of the program.
As a nursing student, you will complete two 140-hour Field Period® experiences as part of your degree requirements. Field Period® gives you the opportunity to step outside your comfort zone and try something you’ve never done before.
You might choose to join a group expedition to Costa Rica or the Dominican Republic, or complete an individual experience within your organization. Other examples of Field Period® sites include:

Requirements for Freshman Admission
- High school diploma/GED
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale, with an 80% or higher final course grade in biology and chemistry
- All science courses must have been completed within five years of application
Requirements for Transfer Admission
- High school diploma/GED
- Minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale
- Minimum of 80% or higher final course grades in high school biology and chemistry. High school science courses can be waived with a "C" or better in college level chemistry and biology courses. If you have completed college level Anatomy & Physiology and earned a "C" or better, biology may be waived.

Biography
Dr. Beth Hopkins brings decades of professional clinical experience as a Nurse Practitioner in Family Health. She has been involved extensively in both professional practice as a F.N.P. and administratively in the development and delivery of health care models for otolaryngology, allergy/asthma, sleep medicine, occupational health, and primary care.
As clinical faculty in nursing, Dr. Hopkins has taught at Virginia Commonwealth University and Upstate Medical University with her primary teaching focus at the graduate level, educating students in the nurse practitioner programs. Additionally, she has been involved in developing and teaching Interprofessional Education and Collaborative Care extensively across the health professions. Dr. Hopkins area of interest is in Pediatric Obstructive Sleep Apnea having conducted her doctoral clinical scholarship project on increasing the primary care providers competence and confidence in early detection and intervention of sleep-disordered breathing in young children.
