Keuka College will mark Veterans Day Friday, Nov. 10, with a 4:15 p.m. ceremony in Norton Chapel.
Local veterans, their families, and friends are invited to join the College community in a ceremony honoring veterans who have served, or are serving, our country.
The program will include special recognition of all veterans in attendance, and will conclude in front of the chapel with a traditional color guard gun salute and the playing of "Taps" by members of the Penn Yan American Legion and VFW.
After the service, local veterans are invited to enjoy dinner at the Geiser Dining Commons, located in the College’s Dahlstrom Student Center. The first 70 veterans who register will receive their dinner compliments of AVI Fresh, the College’s food service provider. Additional family members may purchase a meal at the door for $11.55 per person. To RSVP your attendance, as well as any special dietary needs, by Nov. 3, please visit: keuka.edu/go/veterans
We also encourage photo submissions of your friends or family who have served for special recognition during the ceremony. Those without photos can still be recognized in our presentation by name and branch of service in our Honor Roll listing.
To recognize a veteran with local ties, email a digital photo of the veteran(s) to Laurie Adams at [email protected]. In your email, include the veteran’s name, branch of service, and rank (if known), as well as your name and relationship to the veteran. You may also submit your photo to Laurie Adams by mail and send to Keuka College, Keuka Park, N.Y. 14478. The deadline for including a veteran’s name in the program is Friday, Oct. 27.
Rides are available from the Penn Yan area to and from the College for the ceremony and dinner. Call Garth McKee at Townsend Wood Funeral Chapel at (315) 536-3391 by Friday, Nov. 3 to request transportation.
