For the first time in school history, a Keuka College Softball player has been recognized by Fastpitch News as a Preseason All-American.
Sophomore Jessie Hammers (Wayland, N.Y.) was named a First Team selection for the upcoming 2018 season.
Jessie amassed 52 hits last season, breaking the single-season record at Keuka College previously held by Sara James. Hammers finished with a .536 batting average – also a new Keuka College record, and the fourth-highest batting average in the nation. She also led the North Eastern Athletic Conference in on-base percentage and stolen bases.
Jessie was selected as Second Team All-Region by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association following the 2017 season, as well as Second Team Offensive All-American by Fastpitch News. Among her other honors, Jessie was named the North Division Player and Rookie of the Year by NEAC coaches.
Keuka College soon begins preseason as it prepares for its opening weekend in Virginia Beach. The Wolves will open on March 9 against Randolph-Macon and Frostburg State.
