Keuka College has received national recognition for the integrity of its individualized and engaging education. As an institution whose primary goals are based on student success and satisfaction, Keuka College has been designated a College of Distinction.
This award, conferred by the national Colleges of Distinction organization, is unique among popular college guide classifications, which typically rank schools on the basis of the size of endowment, selectivity, and faculty salaries. Instead, Keuka College earned its recognition for the excellence exhibited in the classroom, and incorporating high-impact practices throughout every student’s undergraduate education.
“There is no number-one college for everyone. Each school is different, just as every student is different,” said Colleges of Distinction Founder Wes Creel. “Keuka College’s inclusion is informed by the unique ways it commits to achieving success.”
Keuka College was also recognized as a New York College of Distinction, and three of its academic programs received additional accolades, including the College’s Education, Business, and Nursing programs.
Keuka College Provost and Vice President of Academic Affairs Dr. Bradley Fuster says the College’s commitment to the student experience is paramount.
“We’re pleased that Colleges of Distinction recognizes the quality of Keuka College’s academic programs, and acknowledges those characteristics of the student experience that we value so highly—experiential learning, the commitment of our faculty and staff to personal attention and student success, and a supportive residential environment,” says Dr. Fuster. “This honor reinforces Keuka College’s constant and consistent efforts to provide access to high-quality education, and it speaks to the effectiveness and success of our entrepreneurial, collaborative, inclusive, and innovative approach to learning.”
Colleges of Distinction’s selection process consists of detailed interviews and research for each institution’s freshman experience and retention efforts, alongside its general education programs, career development, strategic plan, student satisfaction, and other factors. Schools must adhere to the “Four Distinctions:” Engaged Students, Great Teaching, Vibrant Community, and Successful Outcomes.
“It’s inspiring to see Keuka College’s commitment to the learning styles and community involvement that will best allow their students to thrive,” added Mr. Creel.
Keuka College offers such high-impact educational programs as living-learning communities, Field Period® and other internship opportunities, first-year seminars, community-based learning programs, service-learning programs, alternative spring break options, diversity and global learning programs, and interdisciplinary programs, among others.
