Keuka College’s program provides working professionals like you the opportunity to earn your Community Health degree without sacrificing time at work or with your family.

If you have prior college credit, you can earn your bachelor’s degree in a little less than two years. Best of all, our evening and online format means you'll get the benefits of face-to-face instruction combined with the flexibility of online learning and collaboration.

HOW DOES EVENING & ONLINE WORK?

  • Some of your courses will be offered fully online, while others will include a face-to-face component.
  • Face-to-face classes are taught by Keuka College professors just one night each week for 4 hours on Finger Lakes Community College's campus.
  • Complete assignments and readings online when it fits your schedule.

Finger Lakes Community College

You need at least 120 college credits to earn a bachelor's degree at any accredited college or university. At Keuka College, we make it easy for adults like you to earn your Community Health degree, no matter how many — or how few — college credits you already have.

You'll need 120 total college credits to earn the Bachelor of Science in Community Health and Wellness degree.

9 Community Health and Wellness Core Courses

25 Credits

From the basics of Community Health and Wellness to fully immersive, hands-on experiences, these are the courses that will teach you to become an exceptional Community Health and Wellness practitioner. You’ll work closely with extraordinary faculty who are outstanding teachers and actively practicing clinicians. 

5 Concentration Courses

15 Credits

Customize your Community Health degree by concentrating in either health administration or human services. The health administration concentration focuses on business, organizational behavior, and management skills, while the human services concentration will provide you with a broad overview of state and local government, psychology, youth services, and diversity. 

11 Program Support Courses

35 Credits

A range of courses in business, biology, psychology, ethics, and mathematics will provide you with a diverse array of skills upon which you can build your career as a Community Health and Wellness practitioner. While many students choose to transfer these courses in from another institution, you can also take them online or face-to-face at Keuka College. 

15 General Education Courses

45 Credits

Electives give you the opportunity to learn about the topics you’re interested in most and customize your degree. You can choose from a variety of online courses from the Keuka College catalog, enhance your Community Health degree with a certificate, or transfer in electives from another accredited college or university.

Core Courses

From the basics of Social Work to a fully immersive, hands-on experience at an agency near you, these are the courses that will teach you to become an exceptional Social Worker.

You’ll work closely with extraordinary faculty who are outstanding teachers and actively practicing clinicians.

CHW-312: Happiness Well-Being and Health

Concepts and constructs of wellness and health promotion are studied and analyzed in relation to one's self and the public's health.  Students will integrate health behavior theories along with models of community health promotion and wellness with the objectives of Healthy People.  Students will apply wellness and health promotion principles and strategies to one's own life and a proposed target population within the community.

CHW-411: Epidemiology and Public Health

This course introduces the basic principles and methods of epidemiology, with an emphasis on critical thinking, analytic skills, and application to health policy.  Topics include outcome measures, methods of adjustment, surveillance, quantitative study designs, and sources of data.  Students will practice using epidemiology to better understand, characterize and promote health at a population level through experiential learning activities.

CHW-421: Capstone I

Students will work in small project teams with faculty advisement to complete a scholarly, culminating capstone project.  The faculty-led small group project allows student(s) to demonstrate application of knowledge gained. The baccalaureate capstone is an integral part of the major's curriculum design and is completed over the course of two semesters.
