After a career performance on Saturday, Keuka College senior guard Sam Laranjo (Averill Park, N.Y.) has been named North Eastern Athletic Conference Women’s Basketball Player of the Week.

Against D’Youville College over the weekend, Sam scored 36 as the Wolves defeated the Spartans in overtime. Not only was that a career high for the senior, it also tied for the sixth-most points in a game in program history and was the most in a game since February 2007. On the national scale, it was the sixth-most points scored in a game in NCAA Division III this season.

Sam accomplished the feat by hitting 15 field goals in the game, the second-most in the country this season.

On the season, she’s leading the Green and Gold with 17.8 points per game, fourth-best in the conference. She also ranks third in the NEAC, shooting 51.9% from the floor. Despite the increased scoring from the guard, she still leads the Wolves in assists and ranks in the top 10 in the conference in assists and assist to turnover ratio.

Keuka College will return to the floor one final time prior to the Thanksgiving break. The Wolves will travel to Alfred University to face the Saxons at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 26
