Art & Design

Spark Your Imagination and Put Your Creativity into Action

If you’re interested in design and visual expression, you’ll excel in Keuka College’s Art & Design program. Bring your unique visions to life, cultivate your personal style, and build your professional portfolio.

Students in the Art & Design program engage in a wide range of coursework and studio courses, explore and experiment in a variety of mediums including painting, drawing, mixed media, and ceramics. Using both design and color, the program focuses on developing students’ skills as artists, creative thinkers, writers, designers, and problem solvers. These skills together will equip students with the technical competence and fluency of narrative to succeed in the world of fine arts and emerging technologies.

Program Highlights

An Internship Every Year

Every year, beginning in your first year, you’ll design a Field Period® experience that could take you into an art gallery, a photographer’s studio, a television studio, or a video game design center. The choice is yours!

Endless Artistic Opportunities

Our students have their art in public galleries and businesses. They’ve combined art with wellness initiatives at a regional hospital, assisted with a local Chamber of Commerce event, and helped sculpt the gates to a local winery. So unleash your creativity through innovation, experimentation, and exploration in a wide range of specialty areas.

Faculty in Practice

Art is imperative to a well-rounded society and at Keuka College, our talented and creative faculty are experts in their fields. They bring expertise, passion, and creativity to all of their teaching activities. Faculty members also provide students with one-on-one attention in the development of their creative voice and professional research practices.

Artists create the visual world around us, designing everything from illustrations for books to murals in public spaces. They see the world through a lens that frames experiences for others every day, whether it is in photographs, drawings, paintings, or other forms of artistic expression.

Keuka College’s Art & Design will help you develop your personal brand and learn from experienced creatives in the art and design world. The major culminates with a capstone project aimed at preparing you for professional success after graduation. Through documentation, reflection, and exhibition of your work, you will generate creative solutions in the context of real-world constraints.

Choosing Keuka College’s Art & Design major or minor is a fantastic choice if you’re interested in high job prospects and satisfaction in a variety of careers: teacher, book illustrator, forensic artist—basically, anything you want.

My Field Period® with Nickelodeon, to create a trailer for a new episode of SpongeBob SquarePants, confirmed for me that, yes, this is what I love to do. I wasn’t going to miss this opportunity to be part of the program. It had everything I wanted and was related to my major. And having this under my belt and on my resume will lead to more opportunities.
